Chelsea's Tammy Abraham ditches England to represent Nigeria

The striker has been tipped for great things

Chelsea starlet Tammy Abraham is on the verge of completing a sensational nationality switch from England to Nigeria.

The 19 year old striker  is currently on loan at Swansea and has long been seen as a potential England striker. That hope however seems to have dissipated after an announcement from the president of the Nigerian Football Association,Amaju Pinnick.

'I had a very honest and productive discussion with Tammy and his father last week,' said Pinnick.

'It's been a long process but I can tell you authoritatively that he has agreed to play for Nigeria and not England. He and his parents have started the necessary documents to effect the switch.

'Clearly he understands he stands a better chance playing for the Super Eagles. With his talent he has the ability to fight for a place in the Nigeria squad, by God's grace we make it to Russia, then he would contest for a chance to represent his fatherland.'

Once Abraham’s switch is completed he will join other UK born players including Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses who have pitched their international flags in the camp pf the Super Eagles.

Nigeria is currently a win away from confirming its place at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
